It began with one old van and a stubborn belief.
That belief: the best journeys aren't rushed. Thistle Stop Tours LLC grew from weekend drives with friends into a full-fledged heritage tour company — without ever losing the unhurried spirit.
Years ago, on a back road lined with thistles, we pulled over simply because the light was beautiful — and discovered a tiny town with a 120-year-old bakery, a blacksmith still working his forge, and stories in every doorway. We spent the whole day there. Nobody checked a watch.
That day became our template. We started bringing friends, then friends of friends, mapping routes through historic towns, river valleys, and craft workshops. When strangers started asking to pay for a seat, Thistle Stop Tours LLC was born.
Today we run 40+ curated routes with a small fleet of comfortable shuttles and a crew of local guides. Every tour still follows the original rule: never more than twelve guests, never a rushed stop, and nobody ever worries about driving — our shuttles collect you in the morning and bring you home at dusk.
We've hosted anniversary trips, family reunions, photography clubs, and more than a few people who just needed a beautiful day. We'd be honored to host yours.
Our promise, in writing
Small, always. Twelve guests maximum. If a route can't be enjoyed slowly, we don't run it.
Local, truly. Our guides live here. The farms, workshops, and kitchens we visit are run by our neighbors.
Unhurried. Itineraries have breathing room built in. The best moments of a journey are rarely scheduled.
Handled. Pickup, transfers between stops, drop-off — the logistics are ours. The memories are yours.
